Stringendo music school nurtures young string players to become passionate musicians and accomplished performers.
Through orchestra concerts and fiddle gigs, in private lessons and summer music camps, students cultivate life skills:
the ability to listen, to lead and, above all, to work together to achieve the extraordinary.
Orchestra Program
Stringendo’s seven string orchestras meet on Saturdays and are conducted by Marisa Bettina, Jonathan Handman, Liz Handman, Stephen Minor, Kristina Rizzo, and Danielle Stier . The orchestra classes are grouped carefully by playing level and are focused on cultivating a culture of rhythmic literacy, communicative ensemble skills, strong string technique and a non-competitive community atmosphere.
Strawberry Hill Fiddlers
Strawberry Hill Fiddlers currently hosts five levels of fiddle groups whose performances represent the music of many cultures, and are directed by Stephen Minor, Chelsea Needham, and Carole Schaad. Our unique fiddling program is centered on learning traditional music by ear. Open to violin, viola, cello and bass players, the Fiddlers offer exposure to various non-classical styles, improvisation, singing, dancing and body percussion.
Summer Strings
Summer Strings is a three week music camp which takes place in July from 8:45 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Join students from all over the Hudson Valley at our unique day camp combining study of classical string orchestra, traditional fiddle music, and outdoor camp fun. For string students entering 3rd – 11th grades.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are offered on violin, viola and cello for both youth and adults.
Stringendo private teachers are professionally trained and highly skilled, with experience in teaching and performance.
Whether you are 5 years old or 80 years young – it’s never too late to start learning how to play a musical instrument.
